“I Wish I Were Amanda Lepore"
Previously unreleased image! The print discreetly made a debut at the Broome Street Gallery, NY back in April 2013, featured in a group exhibition titled DOWNTOWN curated by Jason LeBlond. The exhibition featured iconic NYC artists of the past forty years, who have worked, lived and inspired the city’s creative epicenter. “I Wish I Were Amanda Lepore” was shown alongside legendary portraits of Leigh Bowery and silkcreens by Andy Warhol. There had only been a 40x30 Artist Proof of “I Wish I Were Amanda Lepore” printed. Guests at the gallery didn’t even realize it was Sharon Needles in the photograph, since Sharon & Amanda looked so identical! The 40x30 print immediately sold to a collector. Now, for the first time, the photo is being made available to fans... as a 16 x 14 inch fine art print, in a limited edition of 100. This shoot was the first time
Sharon Needles & Amanda Lepore had been photographed together, as well as the first time Santiago Felipe worked with Amanda Lepore. The shoot was Styled by designer Geoffrey Mac and set design by George Oh. Amanda Lepore voodoo doll constructed by Michael Ventolo.
